Yuen Bettei Daita is a 35-room ryokan tucked into a residential lane in Setagaya, two stops from Shinjuku on the Odakyu line. Mineral-rich hot-spring water is trucked daily from Hakone to fill both the rooftop communal bath and the seven private cypress tubs that come with selected suites. Tatami floors, futon bedding, yukata, kaiseki dinner, and morning tea ceremony are all included in the room rate — the full ryokan ritual without the four-hour journey. The bookable tea-ceremony room is a quiet hour in the city's most under-known luxury experience.
