Vermelho Melides

A glance at the lavish and maximalist Vermelho Melides makes clear that this is something a little bit different from the recent wave of Portuguese luxury hotels — and the reason, as it happens, is its celebrity owner. Christian Louboutin’s shoes are world-famous, and the technicolor Vermelho Melides will be soon. Its 13 rooms are each different, but all cut from the same stylish cloth; a small but lovely spa is the extent of the leisure offerings. And its most memorable attribute, after its photogenic good looks, might be its restaurant, Xtian, named for Louboutin but overseen by chef Emanuel Machado.
