The Karl Lagerfeld

The legendary fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld never made it to Macau to see his namesake hotel in person, but he designed its interiors from top to bottom, and his presence is everywhere. It’s an unapologetically glamorous experience, and its rooms are marked by what might be a surprising deference to classic Chinese interior design — filtered, of course, through the Lagerfeld sensibility. The spa and health club are suitably lavish, and the restaurant, Mesa by José Avillez, makes the most of Macau’s Portuguese connection. Meanwhile the Book Lounge is inspired by Mr. Lagerfeld’s own home library and features four thousand books hand-selected by the designer himself.
