Le K2 Chogori

The French Alpine ski destination of Val d’Isère is plenty famous in its own right, but Le K2 Chogori, like its sister hotels in Courchevel, takes its primary inspiration from the Himalayas — both its name and its décor are inspired by Tibet’s language and aesthetics. For all its extravagance, it’s family-owned, operated, and designed, which gives it a personality few corporate luxury hotels can match. The Goji Spa by Nescens offers restoration in between days on the mountain, as does, in a different way, restaurant Bottleneck, which serves grilled dishes and cheese fondues. Meanwhile Le 1954, named for the year of K2’s first successful summit, handles everything from afternoon tea and light daytime fare to apéritifs, cocktails, and occasional live music.
