Capella Kyoto
Capella Kyoto opened in March 2026 in Miyagawa-cho, a historic district near Kenninji Temple and Gion Shijo Station. The four-storey hotel is a contemporary interpretation of the Kyoto machiya, with Kengo Kuma & Associates and Brewin Design Office credited for its architecture and interiors. Its 89 rooms include 29 suites, giving the property an intimate scale for central Kyoto.
Accommodation ranges from 50-square-metre city, theatre and temple rooms to six Onsen Suites, two 148-square-metre Gion Suites and a 206-square-metre Capella Suite. Dining brings together Lanterne, an all-day French brasserie; SoNoMa by SingleThread; and Yoi, the hotel’s night-dining venue, supported by a lounge and patisserie.
Auriga Spa adds four treatment suites, three private onsens, steam and dry saunas, experiential showers and a 24-hour fitness studio. A 200-square-metre ballroom and two smaller meeting rooms make the hotel workable for intimate events as well as cultural city stays.
