Aro Ha provides a chance for anyone from all walks of life to come and participate in a journey into wellness. No matter your age, gender, or level of ability, we are always happy to discuss how we can ensure that the programme is suited to you.

Am I fit enough to attend the retreat?

Accepted Answer

If you want to participate fully in all aspects of the retreat, we do recommend a moderate level of fitness. However, the hikes can always be shortened, and classes swapped out for time spent in the spa or sauna.

Do people come on their own?

Accepted Answer

The majority of guests tend to come on retreat alone. Choosing to come to Aro Ha on your own can provide you with the opportunity to immerse yourself more fully in your wellness journey. However, some guests also choose to share the experience with someone special, such as a friend, their son or daughter, partner, etc.

Do I have to participate in all activities?

The program is very full and relatively structured; however, you are welcome to pick which activities you wish to participate in. Nothing is compulsory. Our wish is that you get whatever you need out of this experience; if it means choosing to sauna instead of hiking, then that is perfect.

How should I prepare for my retreat?

While you're welcome to come as you are, we recommend some essential preparation to enhance your experience. Refraining from caffeine, cigarettes, and alcohol at least a week before arrival can help reduce detox symptoms like headaches. Starting some high-intensity exercise—ideally a mix of cardio and strength training—ahead of time will also support your transition. Finally, be sure to break in your hiking or trail running shoes before you arrive.

Please download our ‘Preparing for Aro Ha’ document for a full outline of what to bring and what not to bring. We recommend being prepared for all seasons and wearing clothing that can be easily layered. Aro Ha is situated in the mountains and the weather is changeable.

How do I get to Aro Ha?

On arrival day, we offer a scheduled transfer to Aro Ha from either Queenstown Airport at midday or downtown Queenstown at 12:30pm. On the final day of the retreat, we will make sure you are back in Queenstown by midday.

How long does it take to get to Aro Ha from Queenstown International Airport (ZQN)

It takes about 45 minutes to arrive at Aro Ha from the Queenstown Airport, depending on traffic. We include transfers from the airport or accommodation in Queenstown to Aro Ha from either Queenstown Airport at midday or downtown Queenstown at 12:30pm.

Will I have access to the internet?

All guest rooms at Aro Ha have access to high-speed internet. However, we encourage you to switch your devices off and disconnect as much as possible to embrace the technology fast. With this in mind, we do not have Wi-Fi in any of the public spaces.

Yes, there are no additional costs at Aro Ha. However, you do have the option of booking additional treatments during your check-in, which do incur an additional charge. Additional treatments will replace other classes or sessions included in the retreat.

We are always happy to accommodate any dietary requirements that guests may have. Our plant-based menu at Aro Ha has been carefully designed to meet your needs while you are on retreat, leaving you energised, cleansed, and inspired. Our menu is plant-based, dairy-free, and gluten-free.
